[caption id="attachment_772" align="alignright" width="300"] A still photo of our first dance to "Happy Together" - we killed it. (Photo by the wonderful Matthew Tennison)[/caption] Real talk from a married wedding planner. I am rapidly approaching my two-year anniversary (what?!) and it's made me more introspective than usual.  Planning a wedding is like cutting an onion - layers or something.  It's a difficult simile because it's a complex experience - you deal with all the emotions coming at you from all angles.  Even as you make every effort to keep your wedding "drama...

Last night I had the pleasure of being invited to an open house for wedding and event planners at Philadelphia's lovely Water Works Restaurant.  I have visited Water Works a number of times with clients, but haven't yet had the good fortune to have an event there (maybe 2013 is the year my luck changes?) If you're not familiar with Water Works, you've clearly never driven 76 East or Kelly Drive.  Water Works is a landmark venue, nestled in between Center City and Boathouse Row, in...

A few short weeks ago, I had the honor of planning the wedding of a beautiful, kind, and incredibly fun couple. Stephanie and Brian love music, books, and beer and they wanted those shared interests at the heart of their nontraditional wedding design - what's not to love about that? I was thrilled to be on the same team as a great group of wedding vendors. Adam and Katie and Le Meridien in Center City Philadelphia were a dream to work with (and if you haven't seen that venue, do yourself...

[caption id="attachment_378" align="alignright" width="300" caption="flickr"][/caption] Oh the weather outside is frightful (if you aren't prepared). Tomorrow morning I will leaving Philadelphia for a quick 2 day jaunt up to Rickett's Glen State Park to cabin-camp in the snowy, silent landscape, take in a frozen waterfall or two, and have some good, clean outdoor fun. In honor of my wintry getaway, here are a few tips to consider from a Philadelphia wedding planner with cold nose/toes/fingers/feet syndrome! How to Stay Warm for your Winter Wedding 1) Layers: Not Just For Cake! There is plenty...

This past Sunday was the Lovesick Wedding Expo.  Tom and Jon from Hi-Society Entertainment promised a fun, bridal show extravaganza like no other, and boy, did they deliver!  Venue host, World Cafe Live, was full to the brim with alternative vendors, young upstart companies, unique ideas, beautiful displays, and - best of all - the raffle produced over $800 for the local non-profit Children Can Shape the Future. The theme for my little 4-foot space was "Recycled Music Thrift" - playing off the rock and roll location and the day's ecofriendly...

UPDATE: I have had the pleasure of seeing four couples down the aisle at the Horticulture Center.  Here you can see a beautiful video of this awesome venue in action (Courtesy of the brilliant CinemaCake Filmmakers), and here is a gorgeous wedding and the gorgeous photos taken by Nadine at Love Me Do Photography. Below is my posting after seeing the venue for the first time.  I think you would agree - it's pretty spectacularly pretty. I am so taken with this venue, I had to post the pictures I just...

[caption id="attachment_264" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Outside the Mariott"][/caption] Tuesday evening I was treated to a wonderful N.A.C.E. networking event at the Courtyard Mariott in Philadelphia.  I was running a minute or two late (after another frustrating run-in with those Parking Authority machines!) but I had to pause for a moment to snap a picture of the entrance.  Sometimes I have to stop and really appreciate the cool, urban beauty of the city I live in.  The whole wrap-around, arch covered sidewalk is such a unique detail to this particular venue.  That, plus...

Many thanks to the Knight Foundation and Canary Promotions for bringing me on board for this wonderful event! I had a blast planning the launch party for the Knight Arts Challenge: Philadelphia and am so thrilled that the Arts community will be getting such a huge influx of money. TRUST continues to be one of the coolest Center City venues, Starr Events makes the tastiest Truffled Mushroom Bruschetta, and the fine folks at Synergetic Sounds kept the flatscreens rolling all night. Thanks also to Jeremy Dyen for...
