Whether the weather be fair…

…or whether the weather be not.
We’ll be together whatever the weather
Whether we like it or not!

That tongue twister was a personal favorite in my acting days, but these days it just reminds me that the wedding “show” must go on whether the weather be fair, or not.  I have an outdoor ceremony in New Jersey coming up in a little over a week – all our fingers, toes, and limbs are crossed!

Ed Knight from Eventquip told me that, according to his experience (and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration who run the National Weather Service), weather forecasts are only 85% accurate 24 hours in advance.  That percentage dwindles by every hour further away that you get.  Given those pesky Acts of God that threaten to dampen/freeze/blow/scorch your event, what ever can we do?

1) Prepare an “in case of” plan (and prepare to stick to it if the decision gets made).

2) Consider the fun photo ops!

3) Take a deep breath – unexpected surprises are auspicious to the beginning of your new lives together!

4) Rainbow.  Speaks for itself.

In sickness, in health, for richer, for poorer, in rain, sleet, or snow… that’s how the vows go, right?
